Tax years start on April the 6th and end on April the 5th

The earliest you can submit your return is April the 6th 

This tax return would include all information from the previous April the 5th

For example, your 2020/21 tax return can be submitted on April the 6th, 2021 

This will include information from April the 6th, 2020, until April the 5th, 2021

Your tax return must be submitted by the following January the 31st to avoid late penalties. 

This would be January the 31st, 2022, for the 2020/21 tax year.
